Hello GTYSC Families,
The following blast email was sent out on March 25, 2021.
We hope that your families are doing well and staying healthy. It has been a month since our last update so we wanted to reach out with regards to the 2021 season and some other news.
2021 Season Update:
Although there hasn’t been a lot of new information yet from Ontario Soccer with regards to the format of the summer season, the Club is diligently planning for a safe return to soccer. We are drafting different return to play scenarios that coincide with the province’s colour zones and Ontario Soccer’s phases under the Niagara public health guidelines. Depending on the colour zones, there are differences in the number of participants and spectators permitted so there are many variables to plan for and document.
Thank you to everyone that has already registered for 2021. We expect to have our season plans finalized in April so players can complete registrations. As we have mentioned, we are asking players to register now and pay later so we can plan the divisions more accurately.
With regards to travel soccer, we are waiting for the league to provide more information about the season format and schedule. Once we have that information, we will determine if f tryouts are necessary for specific teams. If tryouts are scheduled, we will blast out any tryout dates to players as they are announced. Interested players should sign up for house league for now.
2021 Match Officials
NEW Match Officials - Ontario Soccer is planning to run online courses for new match officials in April. We will forward any information that we receive and post it to our website.
RETURNING Match Officials – Please remember to register for the 2021 season via RefCentre. The annual membership fee goes up as of April 1st.

Sports Help Campaign
With just 30 seconds of your time, you can ensure local soccer programs have support from all levels of government to continue growing soccer in Canada.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many events and programs to be cancelled, reducing revenues and impacting programs from the grassroots, development and National teams. To help offset these losses and ensure continuity of our programs, Ontario Soccer has partnered with other national sport organizations to ask the government for added support.

Ontario Soccer Survey
2021 marks the third and final year of Ontario Soccer’s current three-year Strategic Plan.
This year, the Board of Directors of Ontario Soccer, led by the Strategic Planning Committee must commence with the preparation, planning and design of its new Strategic Plan in order for it to be fully operational for 2022.
The new strategic plan will be structured as a five-year plan running from 2022 through to the end of 2026 and will align with Canada Soccer’s strategic plan. The planning process for this new Strategic Plan will require input from many stakeholders of Ontario Soccer.
Ontario Soccer is encouraging every registered Club and Academy in Ontario to participate in this planning process by providing their valuable input. Please share this survey with your organization’s Board, staff, volunteers, coaches, match officials, parents and players.
Please click here to complete the grassroots survey. The deadline is March 31, 2021.
Thank you and stay tuned for updates.
