GTYSC 2020 TRAVEL Season Update - June 17
Submitted By GTYSC Administrator on Wednesday, June 17, 2020
Members, parents and players, GTYSC has, since it was founded in 1973 had the objective of promoting, developing and governing soccer in the Town of Grimsby. An important aspect of those objectives is the safety of players and their supporters. Every year we have organised soccer for over 1700 youth and adult soccer players.

The Niagara Soccer League 2020 outdoor season was scheduled to run from mid-May to early September. GTYSC has been listening to and reviewing information from the province, the region, the town and Ontario soccer. At this point there is no foreseeable or reliable expectation of whether there will be any return to play in order to have any season and certainly not a meaningful travel season. Even with the province opening Niagara region to Stage 2 on June 19, there are no dates set out with regards to when games and/or larger group gatherings will be permitted. With this in mind, GTYSC has made the difficult decision to cancel the travel soccer season for 2020 for all NSL youth and women's teams.  There has not been a decision yet with regards to the men's PVSL league.  We will update these teams, when possible.

We are also mindful that the Coronavirus pandemic has caused financial uncertainty for many families. Accordingly, we will be refunding the registration fees IN FULL for the 2020 season.  We will start the refund process after confirming with each team’s bench staff that there are no team fees outstanding.  We are planning to start the refunds on Monday June 22.  Refunds will be processed in alphabetical order via the original method of payment used to register. You will receive a refund receipt/ confirmation from the Club via email. If your credit card number has changed, please contact the club via email at [email protected] ASAP.

We will keep you apprised of the status of the refund process, which you will appreciate given the number of players involved, may take a little time. We thank you for your patience and ask you to keep yourself apprised of the refund process by reviewing notices on our website.

We hope you all stay healthy and well.  Please contact us with any questions at [email protected] or at [email protected]. We hope to see all of our players back on the pitch in 2021.

Thank you and take care.
