GTYSC 2020 House League Season Update - June 16
Submitted By GTYSC Administrator on Tuesday, June 16, 2020
Members, parents and players, GTYSC has, since it was founded in 1973 had the objective of promoting, developing and governing soccer in the Town of Grimsby. An important aspect of those objectives is the safety of players and their supporters. Every year we have organised soccer for over 1700 youth and adult soccer players.

The House League 2020 season for soccer was scheduled to run from May 25 to August 21. GTYSC has been listening to and reviewing information from the province, the region, the town and Ontario soccer. At this point there is no foreseeable or reliable expectation of whether there will be any return to play in order to have any season and certainly not a meaningful House League season, Soccer School season or Women’s 30+ season. Even with the province opening the Niagara region to Stage 2 on June 19, there are no dates set out with regards to when games and/or larger group gatherings will be permitted. With this in mind, GTYSC has made the difficult decision to cancel the House League, Soccer School and Women’s 30+ seasons for 2020.

We are also mindful that the Coronavirus pandemic has caused financial uncertainty for many families. Accordingly, we will be refunding the registration fees IN FULL for those players that have already paid for House League, Soccer School or Women’s 30+ for the 2020 season. We will start the refund process on Wednesday June 17th.  Refunds will be processed in alphabetical order via the original method of payment used to register.  You will receive a refund receipt/ confirmation from the Club via email.  If your credit card number has changed, please contact the club via email at [email protected] ASAP.

We will keep you apprised of the status of the refund process, which you will appreciate given the number of players involved, may take a little time. We thank you for your patience and ask you to review notices we will post on our website.  We are estimating that it will take two weeks to refund all of our house league players.

We hope you all stay healthy and well.  Please contact us with any questions at [email protected] or [email protected]. We hope to see all our players back on the pitch in 2021.

Thank you and take care.
