GTYSC 2020 REGISTRATION UPDATE
Submitted By GTYSC Administrator on Tue 03 17, 20
2020 Registration  is still open and has been extended to May 15th.

- Soccer School U4-U6
- House League U7-U18
- Women's HL 30+
- Men's Travel PVSL

Should the season be cancelled by Ontario Soccer, the GTYSC will issue FULL REFUNDS.

As a result of COVID-19 and in support of public safety, Ontario Soccer, the Niagara Soccer Association and the Grimsby Town Youth Soccer Club have suspended all sanctioned soccer activities until further notice. Sanctioned activities, include, but are not limited to, the following: all competitions, evaluations, training, coach and match official education and team building activities.  These precautions have been taken to help with recent efforts to contain the spread of the virus in Canada.

GTYSC does not have a timeline on how long the COVID-19 pandemic will be an issue to the public but we are taking our guidance from our governing bodies, Ontario Soccer, Niagara Soccer Association and Niagara Public Health. At this point, Ontario Soccer has not cancelled the season because there is still a lot of time before the season is scheduled to start and we all hope that things will begin to improve in the near future.

Ontario Soccer and the Niagara Soccer Association will advise us of the 2020 season status as soon as possible.  There will be communications and status updates as these organizations continue to monitor and assess the information provided by experts.

What we can tell you is that the GTYSC is currently planning for a 2020 season.  The Soccer School and House League divisions are actively seeking coaches and building rosters and teams. Travel programs are also in full planning mode for their season.

For now, it's imperative that people register for the season because registered players are required to plan. It takes 3-4 months to build rosters, find coaches and plan schedules. If we do not have registrations and start planning now, we won't be ready for a season.

We understand your concerns because they are our concerns as well. All our players are registered and games are fully sanctioned by governing bodies like Ontario Soccer and the NSA. We comply and abide by the standards they put forth and the GTYSC will move forward when we are advised its safe to proceed.

We urge you to register now to help us plan for a healthy season.  Soccer School and House League registration was originally scheduled to close on April 3rd, however we have extended the registration window to Friday April 17th

The GTYSC Board will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates to our soccer families as the situation progresses.

Sincerely
Kim Heersink
GTYSC President
